About us
Recovery that speaks the language of the game.
Project Beat the Spread is an early-stage nonprofit focused on one thing: reversing the harm of sports gambling addiction for the people living it and the families around them.
Our story
Why we started.
Hotlines are not enough
In just a few years, sports betting went from something most people never touched to an app on millions of phones, promoted during nearly every game. Support hasn't kept pace. Project Beat the Spread exists to close that gap.
Sport betting companies are expending unprecedented resources to attract young people into gambling, which too often results in addiction and extreme loss. PBTS has no interest in abolishing the sports betting industry; rather, we are working to help bettors become informed and safe.Mission
To help people and families recover from sports gambling addiction and rebuild what it took from them.
Vision
A sports culture where no fan has to lose their savings, their relationships or themselves to a betting app.
What we believe
Our values.
- No shame
- Gambling addiction is a health problem, not a character flaw. People get better faster when they can talk about it openly.
- Fans first
- Loving sports isn't the problem. We meet people where they already are, in the language of the games they follow.
- Whole-life recovery
- Stopping the bets is the start. Rebuilding finances, relationships and trust is the rest of the work.
- Honest about the odds
- Betting products are built to keep people playing. We say so plainly and help people see the math for themselves.
